Moore Catholic High School is a college preparatory, co-educational, Catholic secondary school.
Founded in 1962 by the late Francis Cardinal Spellman and the Presentation Sisters of Staten Island,
originally as an all-girls school, Moore Catholic was named after Countess Mary Young Moore,
an extraordinary benefactress of the Archdiocese of New York. In September 1969,
Moore became co-ed and in the course of time our name was changed from Countess Moore High School
to Moore Catholic High School. In 1966, Moore received its official registration from the Board
of Regents. In 1968, Moore was accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
and remains accredited to the present time.
Currently, Moore Catholic High School is under the educational direction of clergy,
The Sisters of Our Lady of the Garden, and dedicated laypeople. We are devoted to the education
of young people according to Catholic tradition and values. We strive for excellence in all areas,
seeking to ensure that all students develop to their full potential and become mature, responsible adults.
The school, with God’s blessings, has developed to earn the confidence and support of the Staten Island
community that it calls home.
