The Basketball Program, featuring Junior Varsity and Varsity teams for both boys and girls, is a highly competitive program with an excellent stable of coaches. A member of the touted C.H.S.A.A., each team plays quality schedules and participates in excellent annual tournaments. Rich Postiglione heads the girls’ basketball staff. As a former Daily News “Coach of the Year”, and with the most wins in the history of Moore basketball, Coach Post has produced several quality players who have moved on to play at the next level. The Lady Mavs have 3 consecutive CHSAA Championships, including last season’s AA title, combining for 71 wins in the last three years. The program is thrilled to have secured Anthony Rafaniello to head the boys program. Coach “Raf” lists several “Coach of the Year” accomplishments and is the all time leader in wins (over 400) in Staten Island High School basketball history. Basketball’s lower levels provide young athletes with the training to hone their skills and graduate to the varsity level. Marge Lanigan heads the girls JV while former Maverick and Jacques Award Winner Cliff Wilford leads the boys JV team.
