At Moore Catholic, we are strongly committed to the development of young minds,
and we pride ourselves in taking this responsibility very seriously. Developing
a positive environment, which encourages academic excellence, social
development, self discipline and infused with the traditions and teachings of the
Gospel, it is not only an institutional commitment but is also the personal
commitment of each staff member. Our values and traditional are passed down
through state-of-the art programs which promote scholarship, leadership, service
to the school, the Church and the community.
Every member of the staff at Moore Catholic High School commits himself\herself
to fulfilling the academic needs of each student in a college preparatory
program. Our courses of study ensure that every student will achieve and excel
in his\her post-secondary education and beyond. Additionally, each student is
afforded a wide array of athletic and non-athletic extra-curricular activities that
promote the development of self-esteem, confidence and leadership. In many
cases, these skills, along with strong academics, afford preferential entrance
into colleges and universities.
Webster’s New College Dictionary defines a maverick as an “independently minded
person who refuses to abide by the dictates of, or resists adherence to, a
particular group.” With our rich academic history, our strong athletic
tradition, our wide range of activities, and steeped in the teachings of the
Catholic Church, I believe there is only one choice for secondary education on
Staten Island.
